About World Sepsis Day
World Sepsis Day is taking place on September 13 every year, with supporters all around the globe organizing events to raise awareness for sepsis.
The Global Sepsis Alliance is a non-profit organization supporting the efforts of over 1 million caregivers in more than 70 countries as they seek to better understand and combat what many experts believe to be the leading cause of death worldwide: sepsis.
What Is Sepsis?
Sepsis is the common final pathway of all acute infections. It arises when the body’s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. It may lead to shock, multiple organ failure, and death, especially if not recognized early and treated promptly.
