Carmen Barbas

Carmen is an Associate Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of São Paulo Medical School. She is a staff physician at the adult ICU Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, Brazil. Carmen was the Scientific Director of the Brazilian Intensive Medicine Association (AMIB) from 2022 to 2023. Her research interest is in respiratory failure and ARDS. She participates in the review board of Intensive Care Medicine magazine. She authored and co-authored several research articles and book chapters. She has around 90 publications and was instrumental in the COVID response in Brazil. She is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and webinars.
