Amy Campbell

Amy is an exemplary seasoned nurse, educator, leader, and life-long learner, with over 22 years of nursing experience. She uses her passion for nursing to drive excellence and positively impact others. As a nurse educator at Pitt Community College, Amy was recognized for teaching excellence and was a finalist for North Carolina Community College teachers. Now, as an Associate Clinical Professor at East Carolina University College of Nursing, Amy teaches quality, safety, health policy, and healthcare finance courses to upper-level master’s students and mentors BSN honor students. She is passionate about ensuring safe, quality, patient care, particularly for those in eastern North Carolina. As a Quality Nurse Specialist at ECU Health, Amy obtained her Six Sigma Black Belt and became a Certified Professional of Healthcare Quality to drive and lead safe, quality care for patients and families. She is an expert in sepsis and venous thromboembolism, coordinating and transforming sepsis care across the ECU Health system. In 2021, Amy's dedication to nursing was formally recognized when she was named one of North Carolina's Great 100, demonstrating her ongoing commitment to excellence and promoting a positive image of nursing. She has advanced nursing science through research and publications in peer-reviewed journals, recently becoming a Recognized Author by the Health Sciences Laupus Library of East Carolina University. She has been inducted into the ECU Hall of Fame in 2022. Throughout her 23-year nursing career, she has consistently risen to every challenge and advanced the profession of nursing through clinical practice, teaching, leadership, and research.
