Patrick de Marie Katoto

Patrick, MD, MSC (Stellenbosch University), PhD (KU Leuven), is the Deputy Director at the Catholic University of Bukavu’s Centre for Tropical Diseases and Global Health, DRC, and an Affiliate Researcher at the University of Cape Town's Centre for General Medicine and Global Health, South Africa. His expertise spans general medicine, infectious disease epidemiology, clinical trials, vaccinology, and global health. His previous roles include senior adviser to the President and CEO of the South African Medical Research Council, research adviser for WHO programs in Africa, and fellowships at Katholieke Universiteit of Leuven and NIH/Fogarty. He currently co-leads significant projects, including the Sub-Saharan African Consortium for Sepsis Research and Care, Optimizing the implementation and scale-up of the WHO TB treatment decision algorithms for children with pulmonary tuberculosis in sub-Saharan Africa, Statin-TB trial to reduce post-tuberculosis diseases and conducting evidence to inform decision making in resource-limited settings.
