Maïwenn Kersaudy-Kerhoas
Maïwenn is a Professor of Microfluidic Engineering at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her multi-disciplinary research group focuses on the development of pre-analytical tools for the extraction of circulating nucleic acids for various medical applications. In 2013, she received a five years Royal Academy of Engineering Fellowship and in 2018 a Healthcare Technology Challenge Award from the Engineering and Physical Science Council. She was awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering ‘Frontiers of Development’ and Global Challenge Research Fund seed funding to develop an advanced sepsis diagnostic tool via cell-free microbial nucleic acid detection using real-time sequencing with clinical partners in Nigeria, Malawi, Uganda, Sierra Leone, and Botswana. The consortium now also includes pediatricians and bioinformaticians in Japan.
