Pedro Povoa

Pedro is a Full Professor of Medicine at NOVA Medical School (NMS), NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal, and Coordinator of ICU4 Dpt of Intensive Care, Hospital Sao Francisco Xavier, ULSLO, Lisbon, Portugal. He holds a degree in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine, Lisbon University, Portugal, holds a specialty in Internal Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine, and a PhD from NMS.

He has worked in clinical research since the mid-1990s. His current research is mainly in severe infections, sepsis, and biomarkers, and his group has published several reviews and original research.

Pedro is a member of the ESICM and currently is the chair-elect of the Educational and Training Committee. He is also an Associate Editor of Intensive Care Medicine.

He holds a position as an Adjunct Professor in the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Research Unit of Clinical Epidemiology, OUH Odense University Hospital, Odense, Denmark.
