Halden Scott

Halden is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and is a physician and Director of Research in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She received her medical degree from Columbia University and completed a residency and fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

She is focused on improving diagnosis, early resuscitation, and emergency care systems to improve outcomes in pediatric sepsis. Her research has addressed the early, undifferentiated phase of sepsis in children, seeking to improve diagnosis through clinical and laboratory findings, predictive modeling, and clinical decision support. She has been a member of international sepsis committees including the Surviving Sepsis Campaign, and the Pediatric Sepsis Definition Taskforce, and led the Research Working Group of the Improving Pediatric Sepsis Outcomes collaborative. Her most recent work is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of sepsis in children in general emergency settings outside of specialized children’s hospitals, where most children receive their first hours of care.
