Michael Wong
A recognized healthcare and patient safety expert, Michael has been at the forefront in advocating for practical solutions that reduce healthcare costs, reduce the number and severity of medical errors, and improve patient health outcomes. Michael is the Executive Director and driving force behind the Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety (PPAHS), a 501c3 nonprofit and advocacy group of physicians, patient advocates, and healthcare organizations. PPAHS is internationally ranked as a top-100 patient safety organization (Agilience Authority Index).
The mission of PPAHS is to move the patient safety needle. PPAHS accomplishes this by improving patient safety and the quality of patient care by reducing adverse events and malpractice claims through the application of currently available knowledge and technology. PPAHS believes that patient safety is healthcare’s ultimate win-win:
● Patients suffer from fewer adverse events and consequently get better care.
● Clinicians and hospitals experience fewer malpractice claims and can devote all of their attention to practicing medicine.
A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and an attorney, Michael is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Patient Compliance (JPC), the only peer-reviewed journal devoted to helping patients take their medication as physician-recommended, and he sits on the board of directors of the Respiratory Compromise Institute, which is a coalition of PPAHS and some of the leading medical societies in the United States.
